What we do
BC Kids Funding Navigator brings publicly available pediatric funding information together in one place - so it is easier to find, easier to understand, and easier to use.
We organize funding programs and summarize key details like who is eligible, what the funding can be used for, what documents may be required, and where to apply. Families can filter by needs and eligibility, rather than searching across many different websites.
Our goal is to reduce the time and uncertainty involved in finding support - and help families get to clear next steps faster.

Who we are
This resource was created by Colette and Mehrshad - colleagues at BC Children’s Hospital who care about making it easier for families to find support across British Columbia.

Colette Newby
I work at BC Children’s Hospital. My background is in pediatric research and behavioural intervention. Through my work with children and families, I’ve seen firsthand how often therapies, equipment, or assessments are recommended — but families are left to figure out how to afford them on their own. Many families simply don’t know what funding programs exist to help. Information can be hard to find, scattered across different websites, or shared only through word of mouth. I started this project to help families in BC find currently available funding and apply with ease.

Mehrshad Aalipour
I am involved in pediatric research at BC Children’s Hospital. Through my academic work and clinical research experience, I have become increasingly aware of how difficult it can be for families to navigate the healthcare and support systems available to them. When I became involved in developing BC Kids Funding Navigator, I recognized how many families struggle to find clear information about funding programs that could help cover therapies, equipment, or specialized care. Even when support programs exist, the information is often scattered across different organizations and websites, making it difficult for families to identify what they may qualify for. Through this project, I hope to help make funding information easier for families across BC to find, understand, and access.
Why we created this resource
In many cases, children are prescribed or recommended therapies, equipment, assessments, or services that can meaningfully support their development and well-being. However, not every family has the financial flexibility to easily access these additional services.
At the same time, families are often balancing medical appointments, school planning, childcare, work responsibilities, and communication between multiple practitioners. Searching for funding can become yet another time-consuming task on an already full list.
We created this resource to bring publicly available funding information together in one place - organized in a way that makes it easier to search, filter, and understand. Our hope is that it reduces friction in an already complex system and helps families focus more on their children and less on searching for answers.
